Overview

PACE Supply is looking for self-starters to join our team in Stockton, CA. We need a motivated Class C Driver to strive for excellence and help us maintain our commitment to delivering the highest level of customer service. As a delivery driver at PACE Supply, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for making deliveries as well as performing general warehouse duties such as picking and packing orders, stocking shelves, and maintaining inventory.

 

The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment. You should be able to lift heavy packages, operate forklifts, and use hand-held scanners. Good communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as you will interact with customers, suppliers, and team members on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

Safe Transportation

  • Operate a bobtail flatbed truck with a lift gate, ensuring adherence to all traffic laws and company safety standards.
  • Safely load and secure packages on the truck to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle, addressing any maintenance issues promptly to ensure its safe operation.
  • Navigate routes effectively, utilizing GPS systems and maintaining awareness of road conditions to minimize delays and maximize safety.

Order Preparation and Loading:

  • Receives orders through supervisor from prepared and prioritized work tags.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams to accurately pull and verify orders according to delivery schedules.
  • Organize materials on the truck in a logical manner, optimizing space utilization while preventing damage.
  • Use proper lifting and handling techniques to load packages onto the truck, minimizing the risk of injuries.
  • Verify the accuracy of loaded items against delivery documentation, addressing any discrepancies before departure.
  • Ability to learn and operate forklift and man lift safely and within acceptable standards.

Timely Deliveries:

  • Maintain a punctual schedule by planning routes efficiently, considering traffic patterns and delivery priorities.
  • Monitor weather and road conditions, adapting routes as necessary to ensure safe and on-time deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to provide estimated arrival times and address any potential delays.
  • Unload materials promptly upon arrival, utilizing the lift gate and adhering to safety protocols. 

Customer Interaction:

  • Greet customers courteously upon delivery, verifying their identity and ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Assist customers with unloading materials, providing guidance on proper handling techniques if needed.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally, escalating complex issues to appropriate channels.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach, ensuring a positive experience that reflects well on the company.

Document Handling:

  • Complete accurate bills of lading and other required paperwork, capturing essential delivery details.
  • Collect necessary signatures and maintain organized records of deliveries, aiding in tracking and accountability.
  • Communicate any delivery-related issues or special instructions effectively through proper documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation is submitted promptly to relevant parties within the company.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to established safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck interior, preventing clutter that could impact safe driving.
  • Demonstrate awareness of potential hazards and take proactive measures to mitigate risks during deliveries.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance of the job would qualify. 
  • Possess a valid California Class C Driver’s license and be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have clean driving record.
  • Can pass a background check and drug test.
  • Previous warehouse experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • 2 years of professional driving related experience and/or training
  • Five-day work week
  • Long hours of moving and heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to put things in a proper sequence (e.g., by size, alphabetically, numerically) and to put like items together.
  • Knowledge of driving laws and adherence to speed limits while driving a company vehicle.
  • Knowledge of the procedure in the event of an accident in the warehouse or in company vehicle.

Work Environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Ability to lift items that weigh up to 50 lbs. regularly. This includes carrying, dragging, and walking with materials, as well as using a hand-truck.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Environmental Conditions:

  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
