PACE Supply Seeks Finish Estimator Talent (Trainee or Experienced)

 

PACE Supply, a leading distributor of plumbing, HVAC, and waterworks supplies, is seeking talented individuals to join our Finish Estimation team at various locations across Hawaii (relocation assistance available). We offer two exciting opportunities:

 

  • Finish Estimator Trainee: This role is ideal for those with a strong foundation in math, a willingness to learn, and an interest in a career in estimating. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience and training under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
  • Finish Estimator (2+ Years of Experience): In this role, you'll leverage your existing estimating skills and industry knowledge to provide accurate and timely estimates for our Finish Department. You'll work collaboratively with a supportive team to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities (Estimator Trainee):

  • Assist experienced estimators in gathering, calculating, and compiling data for bid proposal estimates.
  • Learn to analyze blueprints and other documents to accurately assess project requirements.
  • Help develop project update and bid package estimate documents.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and enter data into the computer estimating system.
  • Monitor preliminary estimates against actual cost data.
  • Develop strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders, including senior estimators, the sales team, and customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates and project details.
  • Communicate with customers to understand project requirements and address inquiries or concerns.
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure customer needs are met and collaborate with other departments to coordinate project requirements.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Senior Estimator.

 Responsibilities (Estimator - 2+ Years of Experience):

  • Independently prepare accurate and timely estimates for various projects within the Finish Department.
  • Analyze blueprints and specifications to determine material and labor requirements.
  • Enter quotes in the PACE Supply operating system.
  • Update estimation master job folders and maintain Smartsheet’s quote log/personal folder.
  • Request job quotes from vendors/vendor reps and acquire price protections.
  • Confirm accuracy of vendor/rep quotes.
  • Acquire divisional pricing from adjacent divisions.
  • Confirm price strategy with the Account Manager as needed.
  • Provide a copy of bids to the Account Manager when sending them to customers.
  • Provide customers with PACE Supply bids in a timely manner (48 hours prior to bid date).
  • Communicate any "no bid" items to customers and inform them when expectations cannot be met.
  • Regularly update pricing information and databases.
  • Collaborate with the sales team and customers to understand project needs and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Qualifications

Qualifications (Estimator Trainee):

  • Strong foundation in math and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).

Qualifications (Estimator - 2+ Years of Experience):

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction or related field, with a focus on estimating.
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate and timely estimates for various project types.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, costs, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a team and build strong relationships with customers.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (a plus).

Work Environment

 

Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
