With a commitment to exceptional customer service and quality products, PACE Supply has established itself as an industry leader. we are in search of a dependable and committed Class C Driver to enhance our San Rafael team. In the role of a Class C Driver, you will hold a pivotal responsibility in guaranteeing punctual and precise deliveries to our esteemed clientele. Notably, you will be an integral part of a two-person "on-call" rotation every alternate week, which includes weekends.

 

The On-Call Class C Driver holds primary responsibilities centered around the safe operation of a bobtail flatbed truck with a lift gate, ensuring the secure transportation of materials and timely deliveries across various destinations. This full-time role, scheduled Monday through Friday operating a Class C vehicle along established routes while delivering exceptional customer service. Beyond the standard hours, this position requires on-call duties to fulfill additional delivery needs, offering supplementary compensation incentives for off-hours work. Collaborating closely with warehouse teams, the Class C Driver prepares orders and loads packages onto the truck to ensure safe transportation. The On-Call Class C Driver contributes to fostering a positive work environment, prioritizing adherence to safety standards, and consistently delivering excellent customer service—both within the warehouse and during the transportation and delivery process.

 

Your responsibilities will include safely operating a Class C vehicle, following established routes, and providing exceptional customer service delivering materials, commercial water heaters and boilers. This is a full-time position scheduled for Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Additionally, it encompasses on-call duties to fulfill our delivery requisites, with supplementary compensation incentives for work conducted “on-call” beyond your regular hours.

Responsibilities

Driving & Logistics

  • Operate delivery vehicles safely, obeying traffic laws and weight limits.
  • Oversee safe loading and ensure accurate orders and high-quality products.
  • Supervise unloading operations for accurate and safe delivery of materials.

Timely Deliveries & Adaptability

  • Ensure punctual deliveries through efficient route planning.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding delays.
  • Flexibly adapt to changing schedules and conditions.
  • Flexibly adapt to specific customer requirements, utilizing specialized equipment if needed.
  • Assist in warehouse duties, including loading and unloading materials as assigned

Customer Service & Communication

  • Maintain clear and constant communication with dispatch, ensuring seamless coordination for on-call assignments.
  • Provide responsive on-call service for urgent deliveries.
  • Provide accurate distribution and placement of building materials as per orders.
  • Ensure appropriate paperwork accompanies order, Use of scanning equipment for pickups and deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and address their needs promptly.

On-Call Availability

  • Offer immediate, responsive on-call service for urgent deliveries, ensuring timely solutions for unforeseen needs.
  • Remain highly flexible with schedules, readily available during evenings and pre-selected weekends to promptly address delivery requests with efficiency.
  • Maintain an unwavering commitment to adhering strictly to safety laws and regulations, emphasizing safe driving and delivery practices, especially during off-hours.
  • Follow meticulous documentation practices for on-call activities, ensuring comprehensive records of delivery specifics and vehicle readiness, fostering thorough accountability.

Maintenance, Safety, & Compliance

  • Adhere to regulatory and company safety directives, ensuring site safety during deliveries.
  • Handle materials physically and oversee the safe unloading and stocking at job sites.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, both within the vehicle and at delivery sites.
  • Inspect vehicle regularly to ensure proper functioning of all equipment.

Qualifications

  • Can pass a background check and drug test.
  • Ability to count, and to perform basic mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (generally up to four digits).
  • Ability to put things in a proper sequence (e.g., by size, alphabetically, numerically) and to put like items together.
  • Knowledge of driving laws and adherence to speed limits while driving company vehicle.
  • Knowledge of the procedure in the event of an accident in the warehouse or in company vehicle.
  • Ability to organize work and pay attention to detail.
  • Basic awareness and ability to learn to use company office equipment (copy machine, fax machine).
  • Ability to learn and utilize basic computer skills (e.g., email, inventory system).
  • Basic knowledge and proper use of the English language, including reading, writing, and oral communications
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lb.
  • Ability to learn and operate forklift and man lift safely and within acceptable standards (Note:  must be 18 years old to legally operate equipment.
  • Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill
  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Warehouse, plumbing, and/or forklift experience is also desirable, but not required.
  • 2 years minimum of driving experience required.
  • Valid and current CA driver’s license and a clean driving record

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Temperature in the warehouse or in the pipe yard may be extreme.
